The goal of this project is for you to begin to explore a specific individual’s achievements and influence on the world around them and to use your knowledge to contribute to our class understanding of this individual. Overview: You will be given the name of a person in class. You will research the life and accomplishments of that person, gather biographical information and evaluating the context of his or her life and work in order to explain their significance or influence. There are 3 parts to this project: Part I – Effective research – an exploration of you subject using library resources. Part 2 – Utilize text citations and a reference list - include five sources. Part 3 - A presentation. It will be a 4-5 minute overview of the individual you have researched that should give background on their career and highlight their accomplishments. • Voice and Diction - Your presentation should be audible, clear and relaxed. Try to “talk” to the class. Do not just read us your slides or read a long prepared narrative. • Body Language - You should present in a professional manner. This includes not standing in one place the entire time, hiding behind the computer stand, etc. • Organization and Design - The presentation should have understandable sub-topics. There should be clear transitions from one topic to another in their presentation, and the overall format is arranged in a logical manner and context. • Time Limit – You must stay within 5 minutes.
